Motivational Poem - You Cannot Deny My Stride
Maya Angelou Inspiration: A Tribute to the Unforgettable Maya Angelou: “You cannot deny my stride”
I know you see my smile, my skin,
when you see me walking it ought to make you proud,
my strength, my stride, my obstacles, my perseverance
make up that thing you call swag
but I called swagger way way waaaaay back in 2004.
My blackness may not be pretty to you
but you see me,
you feel me,
you even stare at me
all the while you attempt to ignore me.
Maya Angelou Inspiration
My beauty is a result of your indifference to me,
my darkness is my light,
my angel, my “Maya Angelou”
my one thing that gets your attention
before I speak, before I write,
before I move.
I know you feel it,
I certainly feel you.
We are ALL connected,
interconnected
and electrically stimulated,
although it may be agonizing,
even baptizing
to this knew knowledge
passed down from the ole ancestors.
You hear me like a roaring lion,
king of the wild
YOU CAN NOT DENY MY STRIDE!
